Business Development Manager (BDM) – Ethiopia
Osho Chemical Industries Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to support business growth and market expansion in Ethiopia.
Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving company growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and increasing revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion
Identify and develop new business opportunities across regions, including distributors, agro-dealers, commercial farms, cooperatives, and institutional clients to grow market share nationwide.
Market Strategy & Route-to-Market Execution
Design and implement market penetration and expansion strategies, including route-to-market plans, channel development, and pricing strategies aligned with regional market dynamics.
Sales Planning, Forecasting & Performance Monitoring
Prepare annual and quarterly sales plans, demand forecasts, and pipeline reports.
Monitor sales performance by region and channel, and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.
Budgeting, Cost Control & Asset Utilization
Develop and manage approved budgets, ensure adherence to budgetary controls, and oversee effective use and accountability of company assets including vehicles, demo materials, and inventory.
Product Registration, Licensing & Regulatory Compliance
Coordinate product registration, renewals, and compliance in line with requirements of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Ethiopian Standards Agency (ESA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Manage trademarks and product documentation.
Distributor & Channel Management
Appoint, manage, and support distributors and agro-dealers.
Set sales targets, monitor stock movement, and ensure proper market coverage and visibility.
Sales Team Leadership & Field Coordination
Lead and supervise regional sales teams.
Conduct field visits, support dealer trainings and demonstrations, and ensure effective execution of sales and marketing activities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Government Liaison
Maintain strong working relationships with regulatory authorities, cooperatives, NGOs, and institutional stakeholders to support business continuity and market access.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Biological Sciences
(MBA or Business-related qualification is an added advantage)Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior business or sales leadership role within an agro-based company
At least 5 years’ hands-on sales experience, preferably in manufacturing or distribution (B2B)
Proven ability to lead sales teams, strong knowledge of distribution models, and a good understanding of the Ethiopian market
Fluency in Amharic; additional local languages are an added advantage
Non-Ethiopian applicants must hold a valid work permit to be eligible
